Sound Relaxation Programme

High School Sound Relaxation Programme (Pilot Proposal)
2026

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in our wellbeing pilot programme. I am a qualified and fully insured holistic practitioner with many years’ experience delivering wellbeing programmes in schools. My work focuses on supporting children and young people through a gentle, accessible and preventative approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Following the success of previous pilot programmes with Junior schools in the area, I am now offering a free pilot of the Sound Relaxation Programme for High schools in the Bolton area.

Identifying the Need

Schools are increasingly seeing a rise in:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm in students

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Low mood and low self-esteem

  • Difficulty focusing and engaging in learning

  • Sensory overload and constant digital stimulation

With services stretched, many young people are not receiving support early enough. There is a clear need for simple, effective, in-school wellbeing interventions.

The Proposed Solution

The Sound Relaxation Programme provides students with a structured opportunity to pause, reset and regulate through sound. Using instruments such as crystal singing bowls, drums and gentle percussion, sessions guide students into a deeply relaxed state—supporting the nervous system to settle and restore.

This is a non-clinical, preventative approach that complements existing pastoral care within school.

What a Session Looks Like

  • Calm, safe and welcoming environment

  • Brief introduction to relaxation

  • Guided grounding exercise

  • 30–40 minute sound relaxation session

  • Gentle return and optional reflection

Sessions are inclusive, accessible and suitable for a wide range of students, including those with additional needs.

Benefits for Students

When young people are given time away from constant stimulation to rest in stillness, we often see:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Improved emotional regulation

  • Increased calm and focus

  • Better engagement in learning

  • A greater sense of wellbeing and balance

Feedback from previous pilot sessions has shown:

  • Noticeable calmness following sessions

  • Improved readiness to learn

  • Positive engagement, particularly from students who may struggle with traditional interventions

Pilot Programme Offer (Free)

To support schools in exploring this approach, I am currently offering a limited number of:

  • A free pilot Sound Relaxation session

  • Small, targeted group sessions (working in partnership with the school to identify student needs and carefully select participants)

  • Alternatively, a whole-school or year group assembly, introducing sound relaxation and giving students the opportunity to express interest in taking part

  • Sessions fully tailored to meet the specific needs and priorities of your school

  • Enhanced DBS checked

Please note: availability for the free pilot is limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Evaluation & Feedback

As part of the pilot, I can provide:

  • Student feedback

  • Staff observations

  • Optional parent feedback

  • A short impact summary
